In 2016 I was invited to attend a short trip to help spread the Gospel in Cabo Verde Africa. This came before months of seeking and surrendering to whatever God would have me do. I felt a special calling after working among the youth for those two weeks and I was even asked to return by many of them. The missionary also told me I had a place to serve. This was a clear open door for me and so in 2017 I returned with the help of my local church for a "testing period" for a year. This turned into two years and I came back to be ordained into the ministry officially in 2019. I was a single missionary focused on loving God and loving others. I was placed in various roles to assist the new church plant in the city of Praia. I had the opportunity to teach and preach the Scriptures while doing personal discipleship with young men and entire families. I got to drive the church van on Sundays and also teach Sunday School to the children which was a great way to learn the language of Portuguese and Creole. We went to villages for Bible studies and offered school tutoring during the week. Teaching English was another tool used to open doors to the military, police, and city officials.

In 2021, I first met my wife Oliver at a youth camp, and we connected and began working together. She was also answering the call of missions but I would say her circumstances were much more difficult being a Cabo Verdean. I admired her true faith to follow Christ in this culture where being a missionary is not seen as a respected position nor does it pay anything. I helped drive her to church and do many things in the school outreach project she was involved in during the week. We married in November of 2022, and have continued spreading the Gospel through after school programs for kids, sewing classes for women, personal discipleship, and much more. The local church I started at has been successfully planted and is growing and so we now seek to plant a new church in another city where my wife and I have been working in for the past 4 years. We pray that through community projects, activities and Bible preaching we can reach every village on all 10 islands of Cabo Verde with the Gospel of Christ, and from the this strategic place on the map go to the other African nations.
